Fellowship Training

Orthopaedic surgeons often complete additional fellowship training to gain advanced experience in specialised surgical techniques. Mr Edward O’Bryan has undertaken both local and international fellowships, expanding his expertise in hip and knee surgery through training with leading orthopaedic centres around the world.

After completing his orthopaedic training, Mr O’Bryan was invited to complete the Bayside Hip and

Knee Fellowship in Melbourne. This year-long program was under mentors Mr Chris Jones and Mr Sam Joseph and focused on advanced hip and knee surgery across both public and private practice. During this time he trained in muscle sparing hip replacement techniques, including the direct anterior and direct superior approaches, and gained experience with several robotic and technology assisted systems used in hip and knee surgery. It also focused on preservation techniques of the knee joint as well as sports injuries such as ACL and multi-ligament reconstruction.

Following the local fellowship, Mr O'Bryan also completed travelling fellowships in Europe and Asia,

learning from internationally recognised experts, predominantly in sport knee reconstruction.

A list of the world-renowned surgeons that have shaped Edward's practice, as well as their influence,

is found below.
