Edward O’Bryan is a Melbourne based orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in hip and knee surgery. His expertise is in knee reconstructive surgery for sports injuries, and robotic joint replacement of the hip and knee.
He has a special interest in performance focused injury management for elite athletes, as well as using technology to individualise joint replacement in arthritis.
 
Alongside his clinical practice, he maintains a strong academic focus in orthopaedic research. He is currently undertaking a PhD dedicated to developing robotic technology for the patella in knee replacement surgery, as well as advancing cartilage regeneration techniques aimed at improving long term knee preservation and surgical outcomes, particularly in the elite athlete population where this remains a problem area.
